Introduction

Hazara University is located at crossroads point from where the world renowned civilization and culture have spread throughout the world. The area is blessed by nature with captivating and enthralling beautiful scenes of snow caped Himalayas ranges, thick green forest all around its campus. The famous health resorts of Galliat, Shogran, Siran, Kaghan and Naran Valleys, where thousands of tourists converge to explore and enjoy the pleasant climate during summer months have made the area a cultural and tourism hub.

Keeping in view the natural and cultural wealth of the region there was a need to establish a center of education and to fulfill the gap of higher education in Pakistan. The credit goes to Hazara University has taken a bold step and establishes Department of Tourism & Cultural Heritage in semester 2006. The success niches in to establishing a flagship School of Cultural Heritage & Creative Technologies. In this School five Departments includes Tourism and Hospitality will go side by side under one umbrella. THE COURSES

The course prepares students for a wide variety of roles within national/ international tourism and hospitality industry. The development of craft and supervisory skills, together with extensive industry experience equip students to deliver a unique customer experience. A special focus is placed on developing the art of tourism & hospitality. On the course students will be monitored and coached by personal tutors who will help build on the strengths and explore career opportunities and areas for further study and career in the tourism industry.

A). REGULAR PROGRAM

1. BA (Hon) TOURISM & HOSPITALITY

The BA (Hons) in Tourism & Hospitality is a 127 credit hours course that can be completed in 4 years of full-time study in eight semesters. The curriculum consists of a core of courses covering a range of subjects necessary for all industry professionals, a concentration in an area of expertise, an internship, and Special Project report through which students demonstrate their new skills and knowledge. 2. MASTER OF ARTS TOURISM & HOSPITALITY

The prepares students for leadership roles in this dynamic, multibillion-dollar industry. The DT&H prepares motivated and qualified students to assume leadership roles in the field. The MA Tourism & Hospitality is a 69 credit hours course that can be completed in 2 years of full-time study in 4 semesters. B). SHORT TERM PROGRAM

NAVTEC-DT&H Courses

We had started the NAVTEC-DT&H Courses, with the Prime Minister’s Hunarmand Pakistan Program; these courses are tailored for 3 Months NAVTEC-DT&H Certification. The course is aimed to prepare 240 trainees per annum particularly unskilled and jobless youth of the region. These courses designed in the hotel services, the certificate is being offered in

•      Cultural Guide Service

•      Front office Management.

•      Housekeeping Service.

•      Restaurant Services (Food & Beverage Service).

•      Culinary Art (Food & Beverage Production).
